Anyone out there have a set up like it for our Pagoda Engine?

Some day I like my engine to look like this :) wonder what it would cost me ... complete tear down and rebuild like new? Would $20K do the job? there is always the unknown ... I know it too well

Very sage advise Jonny. Fortunately for any restoring aficionado, we have the M-B Factory picture out of the sales brochure (see attached).
Useful in many ways, to show surface finish, colour and which direction certain items were mounted at the factory.
Re: the RM pic you refer to, one would think that people now would use the "original waffle pattern style" firewall mat, as it has been available (as a repro) for a couple of years now. Makes such a visual difference.
The totally changed routing of the vacuum pipe from inlet manifold to brake booster on the RM car also does not go well with me :-\

Thank you everyone else!!! Any of you have been quoted prices for engine major rebuild (ball park numbers?). I've heard numbers like $12K to $15K of course there is always the unkown what one might find inside once taken apart.
I know it is a stuped question to ask "How much will it cost me?" My customers always asked me this question for major inspection of large rotating machinery. I always responded with disassembly and reassembly time and cost estimates (including a contingency even on the foregoing since we always found issues like frozen hardware to be drilled out, major re-alignment etc.) as for replacement parts it was always an unknown until clearances were recorded.
Perhaps a better question would be "what have you fellows paid recently for a major engine inspection/rebuild?

Maybe you can check with Metric Motors. A few years ago as I recall a full rebuild, top and bottom, was in the neighbourhood of $5 or 6 thousand. May have gone up a bit, but prices used to be quoted in their website. Add the cost of ahipping and you have your number.
I happen to have such an engine stand built specifically for our series engines, with even a tachometer.
