Title: special oil filter for rebuilt engine?
Post by: jpinet on January 29, 2015, 22:17:51
Does anyone know the answer to this?

In the epc, there is an oil filter # A000 18 44 22
It says ‘’up to a reading of 500km’’.
Is it a special oil filter used with a new engine?
Should I use this oil filter after my engine rebuild?
I assume it's made of a finer mesh.
Has anyone ever used this?

Yes jp,

That's correct.
MB offers a special running-in filter for the 1st 500 km after rebuilt: parts no. 000 184 4225.
It's a bit more expensive than the regular 000 180 0009 standard filter (kit). The mesh is finer.

It's up to you to use it or not, most owners don't do it.
I am gonna do it for my 127.

Best,

Achim

Thanks for that input Achim.
And I followed your advice and ordered most parts from MB Classic Centre.
Thomas was great with prices.
