Title: carpet dye
Post by: rumb on January 29, 2015, 13:42:00
A few years ago I found on internet a German company that sold carpet dye for the square weave carpets. I cannot find that site anymore.  This was a color refresher that would add the blue color back into the carpet, not a solid color. Does anyone know of this company or where to find?

Thanks!

Use RIT liquid dye.  Find a color close to what you need.  Dilute or mix with other color to closely match.  Spray with liquid sprayer and let dry.  Lot's of control, works beautifully.  All for less than $5

In theory, articles dyed with RIT must be done so in warm or hot water by soaking in the RIT solution. It is my understanding that failing to do so will result in the dye rubbing off. I dyed some fabric welting along the door seals in my 240D using the incorrect in situ technique and the result was OK. Some dye wore off, but some remained. Overall, better than what was there but not perfect.

Another option would be SEM upholstery spray for vinyl/ leather. Some people have used it for carpet.

I had no issues like that.  But, I did it in summer, hot water in the sprayer and drying in the sun.
