Title: Heater Distribution Box Foam Strips
Post by: ncsurfer on January 27, 2015, 00:03:48
I have searched the Technical Manual as well as post on the heater, but I haven't found a source for the foam insulation that is used on the heater box. I am sure all of the boxes are in the same shape by now. Can someone tell me where to buy the form strips or cut-outs?
Thanks, ncsurfer

For the air distribution box I used door/window insulation from Ace Hardware. They come in various widths, thicknesses, and comprehensibility. I think you will be able to insulate better than original.

I found mine at JoAnn Fabric. Used head liner  material. Was able cut it in the shape 2 seals.

Worked rather well.

Do a search in this forum for "heater core insulation."  There is a reference to the material you need and it can be sourced from McMaster.

That is what my friend and I used for the heater core replacement project. I am not sure the exact part number, but it was the thinnest foam that McMaster had. It was a bit thick but compressed nicely and posed no real issues when we did the install.

Next up are the air box and defroster flutes. Fan, side covers and core are back in place.
