Title: Replacement seat belts
Post by: Coochas on January 20, 2015, 00:02:22
Hi All,
I've been poking through all of the various seat belt threads and the technical manual stuff.
I am fairly certain the 3-point seat belts in my 280SL were never used and were tucked away between the seats.  I extricated the belts today and found that both belts have been shredded in a few areas and are no longer usable.  Additionally, the plastic "lift" pieces have been broken in a few places.

I am considering springing for some nice replacement 3-point belts that would be OEM in nature but want to entertain 'modern' 3-point options.
I was wondering if there is any known direct replacement for the belts that is completely bolt in (no welding).  I would be willing to use a modern seat belt fastener.
It seems from reading the threads here that any retractable belts cause you to lose 1-2" of aft travel for the seats.  This would be a deal breaker for me since I have the seat all the way back already!

Hi Coochas,

If you do not mind dealing with a company in UK , we have  FDTS

http://www.fdts-seatbelts.co.uk/index.html

They can rebuild your old parts  to give you "new" belts.

I, and many others here have found them excellent, and they are well aware of our cars.

Good luck

Paul
