This be the latch for the door. The one that is bolted inside your door, with a nice chrome plate over it I think (from memory).

Just to make sure we are speaking the same language:

"Latch" is UK. In USA, we say "handle" as in "driver door handle".

We also have door handles! those shiny things on exterior of the doors, but you can also unlatch a door to open it or latch it shut so the latch bit is the part which engages to keep the door shut or disengages to open it
or we could just call it a door mechanism thingy :)

mind you my english is not a good as what it could be[:p]

Hey Malc,
Not that I know of.
However these days anything is possible. I recently saw a write up about a 116 converted to a ute. It looked very useful too.

A Pagoda ute mmmmmmm, how to go about it??

1. weld on the hard top
2. remove the boot lid
3.

Nah don't think so...........
