Gents,
I am going to a MB scrapyard in the coming days to source out some parts.
Two questions:
1- I am trying to find out if my car 113042006466 should have the metal tube that covers the spark plug wires that attaches to the side of the valve cover. My initial searches tell me it should, but I have found no definitive answer.
2- ancillary questions: is this part shared with another car with the M127 engine? failing that, anyone knows who might have one?
Many thanks,
J

Mine is 12948 and has the tube so yes it probably should have it.
SLS appear to have it, and I am sure some of the US dealers will have it as well

The tube and bracket (p/n 127 150 0519) for the ignition cables was eliminated on cars with manual transmission starting with engine number 011122 and on automatics with engine number 003177.
That should correspond to VIN 0013640 (Oct. 10, 1965), sorry Garry. :(

Garry, I know how much you worked to get your car to such a magnificent standard. How would you like an opportunity to make your car even "more correct" by selling me your tube and bracket in light of what 66andBlue said?
So far I am unable to locate the part in the U.S., (I have not called the Classic Center yet, I am waiting to get my MBCA card in the mail) and I cannot think SLS in Germany will be much cheaper on shipping than Australia, so maybe we can help each other out! What do you think?

Go ahead Garry, close the deal, since I have a freshly Cad-plated correct bracket for you. ;D

I have missed something here.. I was quoting the last of my vin number, not the engine number.
My Vin is 113 042 22 012948. 16 Sep 1965 So why would taking it off make it more correct????? ???

Oh, we were just trying to relieve you of a nice and rare bracket. ;D
Seriously, I am sorry about the mix-up of VIN and engine numbers. But at least Jerome now has an answer to his question.

I thought I had messed up another part of my restoration and Alfred you had got me worried.
Feel so much relief. ;D ;D
Jerome, back to the drawing board.
