Title: wiring loom in steering column
Post by: Basil on October 11, 2014, 17:48:31
Hello ! I am changing from manual to powersteering in my 1964 230 SL.
Therfor I need to change the long steering column for the short one.
Is there a simple way to take out the wiring loom from the steering column ?
Thank you for your answer in advance.
Paul.

In order to remove the cables, as it is quite a restricted diameter inside the 230SL column, you need to remove the contact shells (housing halves) at the end. Be sure to mark up and photograph before you pull the pins out of the shells.
Will you be exchanging the blade springs in the front suspension as well?

Hello Hans, do you mean to solder loose the wires from the plug ?
I have no intension to exchange the blade springs, but I suppose you ask this for a certain reason.
Right ?

You open the two halves of the shell, pull out the pins, wires remain soldered on

Blades have different length on cars with power steering. Different caster angle specification
