Hello all,
This is my first post here but I wanted to send a thank you to the board! Because of all the great info contained here (and a shop manual and lots of hard work) I now have this car back on the road after sitting in someones garage under a cover since 2007. I had been trying to buy the car for 6 months and finally the guy decided to let it go - it was a stalled project, he had it stripped down and painted in 07 and then never reassembled it. I have some mechanical/ electrical kinks to work out still but for the most part its running and driving great and is a true pleasure to spend time in. I just joined as a full member, look forward to contributing / learning more from you guys.

Dear Nahuston,
Awesome work. Welcome to the obessive compulsive world of Pagoda Benzs.
Let us know what your goal is. If you want to have the car look like it did when it left the factory, consider new headlight doors, as your s look like AJ "Full Amber" types which were available on 280SL's, not the 230. Unfortunately, headlight doors are ridiculously expensive to buy. And your lower trim is missing, as is your lower chromed brass moldings behind the rear wheel well. And not seeing your hood emblem.
Love the color, and we can help you, whether you are as anal as some of us, or just want a fun car to motor in.
Stay active on this great site.

Welcome to the group and a very nice looking Pagoda you have there.
I corrected your address, it was showing Afganistan, where it defaults to, I gather that is not where you live :o

Thanks - Yes I'm in the process of installing trim. Interesting about the headlight doors - the ones on this car (64 230sl) just have about an inch tall strip of amber on the bottom, is that correct? My goal is to make the car a reliable weekend driver. Its a color change from light grey/ tan interior to triple black (unfortunately) but shows pretty well. It will never be a concours car but looks and drives well which is fine with me. I should have it pretty much buttoned up by the end of the week. I've got an occasional miss at high rpm/ high load (full throttle over 4k rpm) which I am trying to track down but other than that its running great.
