I have had a problem for sometime - unable to lock the door from inside or with the key on 1 side. Remove the lock assemble from
both sides and compared them - they appear identical - unable to see anything broke.
The lock mechanism which is activated by the inside locking rod will not go into the locking
position.
Having compared both side - 1. works perfectly and the one that does not - unable locate the problem.
Any suggestions? Thanks
PS I do have a lock from a parts sedan - same lock assembly, and that one does not work.

You can't lock the drivers door from the inside. Only with the key. Not sure it that's your issue.

I had the same issue with mine. The drivers door can only be locked when the door is shut. From memory there is a little sprung loaded latch that has a lever attached which when the door is shut rocks the lever and releases the locking mechanism. Two things might be preventing it from unlatching 1) either the door is not adjusted correctly and the lever isn't quite being struck correctly or 2) the mechanism is all junked up and is jammed closed. Mine was jammed. I used solvent to wash out the guts of the mech and repacked it with grease. It now works perfectly.
