All - I did consider whether this question should be posted in the vendor section but thought better of it. Apologies if I selected the wrong section.
I recently purchased parts from Authentic Classics (as I have done before) and decided to add some "genuine MB hoses" whilst at it for a friend who needed them. They seemed a little more expensive that other sites so it seemed plausible they were genuine MB parts (and I am not saying they are not). They have a green MB logo and text / part number imprinted on them which did appear a little wonky, whereas, last year when my mechanic replaced some of my hoses with genuine MB parts they have white logo / text that appears "straighter". (I can add photo's in a few days if needed).
The white embossing(?) looks a little better and is certainly more noticeable than the green which tends to get lost against the background of the black rubber.
Can someone explain the green vs white? Is it a US vs Europe thing? or MB vs other manufacturer? Or last year vs this year?
Appreciate your comments.

Did you remember to take off your Ray Ban's? ;D
Sorry, couldn't resist. Have no experience with original vs substitute but I did replace all my cooling system hoses last year (there's a LOT of them, large and small) with a complete set I purchased from Van Dijk's. I figure what they use for their restorations and maintenance will be good enough for me.

Curious, I am traveling and not able to check my car right now. I replaced all the hoses on my 280 three years ago, and I used MB hoses (most from the dealer) I don't recall the color of the imprint. I will check on Friday.

I got a hose recently to replace one of the cooling hoses. Mine had white MB writing with part no. etc on it.

My GUESS is its whomever MB is using as their supplier which I am sure varies. I recently purchased hoses directly from the Classic Center and the logo/print was dark blue (on black obviously) :( . My experience with Authentic Classics is that when they say "genuine Mercedes", it is.

Thanks Kevin / All,
That does sound plausible. I also believe AC correctly advertise their items - too much at stake to do otherwise.
When I zoom in on their photo's I now notice that some hoses had white and some had green. I prefer white :)
Cheers

Just checked the hoses that I replaced three years ago. With one exception, all are white markings with the MB logo part number, etc. The only odd ball was the hose off the water pump that has different sized ends, this one was marked in green, with the MB logo etc.

Green? could be a indication of a new improved hose material now being used ?

Or maybe just eco-friendly!?

Has anybody posed the question to Tom Hanson or others at the Classic Center? Maybe there is a meaning behind it; maybe not. Rather than speculate, why not ask?
