Title: Bosch Ignition Coil
Post by: jcochran@cox.net on July 23, 2014, 22:06:48
Hi,
Does anyone know what the primary resistance should be on the ignition coil in my 250SL? It is made by Bosch, is black in color and may be original to the car. My Fluke 189 shows 2 ohms. The reason for my post is that the car was running fine this weekend and when I tried to take it out today it would not start due to lack of  spark and I am working my way through the ignition circuit.

As always thanks for your help,
Jim Cochran

Also check  the installation of the ignition contacts (points). If the forked connector, on the points wire rotates enough to touch the distributor breaker plate, your ignition will ground out and no spark will be delivered. Also the small bolt the points attach to, must be insulated as it passes through the distributor body or your ignition will short out.
