Title: Finding Correct Brake Light Switch
Post by: johnk on July 17, 2014, 15:27:17
Hello everyone,

My brake lights are not working and I traced it back to the brake light switch (they work if I pull the switch out of the plug a little bit and cross the terminals with a screw driver). I ordered a new one from Budz Benz but the two terminals do not line up with the plug. The terminals are closer together on the new switch compared to the old.

Does anyone have an idea where else to look for a switch? That is the only one Buds has and I have not been able to find one elsewhere yet. The local Mercedes dealer said they are not available any more as well. My car is a 1968 Euro version.

Thanks for your help.

John

Hello John,

Most likely they are the same on the  early finback sedans of the era. You might try flooding the switch with some electrical contact cleaner to see if it comes back to life.
