Title: Side Rubber
Post by: mmizesko on July 15, 2014, 13:10:54
For those of you replacing your side rubber in the chrome trim, here's a hoot.

I decided to replace the rubber in the chrome side trim, as long as I had it out.  One side was more faded than the other and it was only $15 per meter from the MB dealership.  So, anticipating some problem, I ordered 5 meters, which they promptly shipped from their Chicago warehouse.  When we opened the bag, there were Five 1 meter pieces.  The EPC specifies that the door pieces are 1.122 meters long, so clearly we had a problem.  So I called them back and they told me that they would take back what I didn't use, and get me a 3 meter continuous strip.  They called ahead to the warehouse to make sure it would be right.  It arrived at the dealer in Three 1 meter strips again. The dealer was told that they could not deliver any continuous rubber longer than 1 meter lengths.

At his point, I called Tom Hanson at the Classic Center in Irvine, and he laughed and shipped me a 3 meter continuous piece of rubber.

Thank you Tom.....
