To all: is there a way to press a new bearing into the throw out bearing collar for a 69 280sl or know some one that has this part in stock in the US? Engine rebuild almost complete but cannot find new release bearing. thanks in advance.

I have a new unused 69 280 SL throwout bearing. I couldn't use it with my 250 SL bell housing, fork. Make me an offer. I bought a new clutch kit and wanted a diaphram rather than spring pressure plate so I specified a 69. Apparently the ID is smaller, it would not slide over my tranny neck. It also wouldn't fit my fork so I used my old but not very used old bearing. The new ones are not too expensive because they are plastic housing with metal wear strips and integral ball bearing. Interesting hi-tech and much lighter.
Let me know if you want it as another guy responded from Canada.

Place the collar on a piece of dry ice for a few minutes to shrink it and then you should be able to press the bearing onto the collar without much trouble.

I press them on in a bench vice!
