Post by: bob66542 on August 20, 2004, 08:03:34
how is the beltline trim removed? i have the inner front fender splash plate removed, and it looks like i have to pry? out the black rubber door protector strip to access screws that hold the chrome trim to the body. is this correct? i dont want to damage any trim removing it. thanks,-bob

Yes, it's that simple. The aluminum trim for a 280SL beneath that is even easier -- it just snaps into place once you line it up.

I thought the chrom trim was rivetted ??

Is it easy to remove the splash plate ?  What would I need to get before I attempt to do it.........seals....bolts ??

I think they were originally held on with screws, but riviting is probably a common practice for the body shop guys.  My car has a mix of screws and rivits.
