Funny, just now on my way home from work I was contemplating how I would be getting the engine of the El Camino done once back in the Florida Keys. This is a 454 so lots of possibilities for 'upgrading'. It's 245 hp as it is with a lot of torque needless to say. But I won't be shoehorning it into a Pagoda any time!

Curious collection of exodic parts. AL heads, chain cover and side draft Webbers. Must be a good story behind that one.

Cees,
There are indeed tons of upgrades available for your engine. That was the absolute low point in the history of the big block Chevrolet engine. Ignition system is good except needing to be recurved. Carburetor if original is good but few people understand them so seek one out. Much better cylinder heads, camshafts and higher compression pistons available. I would consider simply parking the original and buying on of the many "Crate" engines available directly from Chevrolet.
