I forgot to explain that the brass pinion will replace the broken plastic one that did not allow me to reset the tripmeter

I looked at the linked page and found out that the same item is listed by this seller several times, but always at a slightly different price, from 72 to 95 Euro + shipping costs.

FYI:
Checked also the SLS site and found the same item at an even lower price, just above 65 Euro.

Long life to internet checks :)

Can any of you tell me if these rubber covers were standard equipment on the early 230.  My car did not have these.  The instrument cases were in almost perfect condition with no signs of corrosion.  I am assuming the purpose of these is to keep moisture off the instruments if the windscreen is leaking or condensation from the foot wells get up behind the dash?  Otherwise I am at a loss to understand why you would want to 'condom' a surface that is unlikely to ever come into any sort of mechanical abuse.

Flyair, I searched a lot on SLS but evidently not enough because I missed it.

Andy, the rubber boots are supposed to avoid dirt and dust entering the instruments' housings and the backside of the glasses. The other function is to diffuse the light from instrument light bulbs
