Title: Pagoda 1972?

The otherwise serious German source of Pagodas shows one car as a 1972 model. Have you encountered that before or is that just an error?

Error and/or sloppy advertising. Notice that this is an 'archived' ad, car is gone.

True, the car is sold, but the seller is one of the most active vintage Mercedes shops in Germany. Though to believe it's a mistake that nobody posited out earlier...

It is definitely an error, I think they meant to say that it was registered the first time in 1972. You may notice (when looking at German adds) that they mostley adverise the first registration date of a car.

I inquired to them by e-mail, however, I don't expect a reply ....

Sie haben einen 280SL auf Ihrer web Seite. Sie haben ihn auf einen 1972 Model angezeigt. Ist das ein Fehler? sollte es nicht ein 1971 Model sein? Produktion für den 280Sl wurde in 1971 eingestellt? Oder meinen Sie das Das Auto in 1972 das erste mal angemeldet wurde.

Hi Alfred and Stashu:
Both of you know that my 280SL was produced the last week of February 1971.
Mine was produced about Feb 16 1971 and left the factory on February 18, 1971.
I believe the last day of manufacture was February 23, 1971.
My number is 023740 and the last car was 023885.
My 280 was delivered to Koln.
I believe that Alfred is correct, they probably registered it in 1972.

my car is 23798, so I wonder how this translates in terms of probable production date?
Statistically speaking, if from yours to the last one there were 145 cars made in seven days, all being equal, it gives about 21 cars per day. this would mean that my Pagoda was made on 19th February.

Since mine was Feb 16 you are probably right.
On my data card lower left, the box under box 13 labeled: Oberachmetog the date is 18.Feb. 1971
Gernold stated that meant when it left the factory.

I do not know how I found out it was made on Feb 16.
In the middle of the data card in the large boxes, It states: Fa.K.Robbeling, Koln       26.2.71
Again as per Gernold that means it was sent to a company in Koln.
Probably on Feb 26 1971.
By the way the 250SL was sold.
