It appears that Paul Bracq had more models in mind that were to benefit from the pagoda-like design. Unfortunately, this did not materialised in production.

From the drawing I'm not sure it's unfortunate that she remained on the drawing board. Inelegant to say the least. A barge at worst.
Incidentally, Stan, reassure me that you're getting my emails on that other hinges. Had a bounceback a few days ago!

That car has something of a Belair, the one with the gull wings trunk. I read somewhere, quoting Barcq, that he wanted horizontal headlights but that was disputed by Management, something to do with keeping the fascia and distict grill as a distinctive mark. This is how the W108s and other MBs of that era retained the vertical headlights.

The photo comes from the very interesting monthly of the MB Club of France called Gazette. There is a great interview with our restless Maitre Carossier Paul Bracq about the W100 model. The incremented photo is most likely one of the Paul Bracq's drawings and was published on page 9 of Gazette.
