I have an front spoiler/air dam on my 1970 280SL. I have never seen in person this item on a W113. I seem to remember one on a picture on this forum, but this particular one looks different. I have owned the car for over 32 years and bought the car which already had the spoiler attached from a used car dealer in California (when I was living over there) who supposedly imported the car from Germany.
One of the lens of the original round front driving/fog light broke last year and I replaced both lights with one that was more available and less expensive :(. I wish I can find another like the original that I first had since they were a bit bigger and more stylist. And for the purist, yes I know, my car has the chrome wheel wells which came that way when I bought it.
Also the reflectors on the front European headlights are missing. One was originally there and I took it to a mechanic in California in an attempt to get the other to match. I was disheartened that he just broke off the reflector on one side so that both sides match....now no reflectors but they match :'(. Now they are expensive too replace.
Anyways, has anybody ever seen a front spoiler/air dam such as this? My mechanic has never seen one before. I speculate that the previous owner in Germany had it fabricated or got it from another car. I, myself, like the looks of it since it makes it look more sporty being closer to the ground and hides some of the stuff underneath the engine. I want to put better looking bolts and nuts on the spoiler to clean up the look...one day.

Hi Danny,
I think you are right that the previous owner had it fabricated ro it may be from another car. I myself like to keep my car stock, otherwise what is the use of owning such a fine automobile. As to your question, first time I've seen it on a Pagoda / Pagode
On the other hand some people go wild like here ---> http://gwa-tuning.com/p_Pagoda.html
All in the Eyes of the Beholder :)
Happy Holidays !

I like it, it's been done well IMO. Could be from a variety of '70 Opels or BMWs, this was all the rage around Europe then. The name Irmscher comes to mind. Or custom-made in polyester.

The chin spoiler was on ebay. A Porce guy was selling his 280sl. It generated quite a bit of discussion from what I remember.
Here it is.
