I am removing the aftermarket AC on my 280SL and are no trying to find a suiting bracket for the alternator. According to a previous topic http://www.sl113.org/forums/index.php?topic=16727.0 the bracket with MB No 127 155 09 35 should be the correct one. Yesterday I went to a scrap yard and found a bracket on a W108, 130 155 00 35. The question is does any of you know if this one fits or should I continue my search for the “127”. ( I don’t have the car or the engine at home so I can’t check how it works.)

This should be the correct bracket for your non-AC engine. It is the latest and best design. The earlier 127 types were lighter duty and tended to break or wear holes oval.
Non AC engines also used different pulleys on the crankshaft I believe. Pay attention to the pulley alignments as you start re-assembly. You may have to make some crankshaft pulley changes also. The non-AC set up also uses a one belt water pump pulley.

This is the bracket I used when I took the AC off my car too. The bracket should be attached to the block with studs. If you use bolts be careful, because the threaded holes in the block are drilled all the way through into the crank case. Using bolts that are too long will hit against the crankshaft.
