Title: Tool to remove steering wheel in the toolkit?
Post by: Louiehenry on December 13, 2013, 22:49:28
Hello once again guys!
I'm taking my lovely E Nardi wheel off, polishing it, and putting it back on
As I went to take the bolt off, I realized that It seemed to be the same size as the tire lugs!
And since you can do almost anything on this car with the tools in the provided tool bag, I was curious to see if you guys knew anything about the bolt in the center? Is the tool in there? I get a kick out of using the tools in the pouch for maintenance, and in the summer, I like to take the wheel off of my other cars, and leave the top down, so if they provide a tool, I don't need to add one!
Thanks!

Hi Louie,

Have you read thru this ----> http://www.sl113.org/wiki/Interior/SteeringWheel

It might help you, I don't know about a tool to do it I guess you have to see what it takes and what you have.

Hello Louie,

Unfortunately the nut is a 22mm. This is virtually the same as 7/8" SAE. Easy to come by anyplace that sells tools.  1/2" drive socket and  a short extension works good with a breaker bar. Have someone hold the wheel firm while you unfasten the nut so you do not over-stress the steering lock. The wheel slips of easily after the nut is removed.

Keep asking questions.  I was just learning one end of a wrench from the other when I was your age !

Really? I tried a 7/8, but I couldn't find my extension for the life of me! I guess I'll go pick one up tomorrow!
Thanks!
