Title: Happy Birthday Dan (Benz Dr.)
Post by: Rolf-Dieter ✝︎ on December 12, 2013, 15:13:55
Try to stay clear of the shop on your Birthday Dan, remember the first rule of management "Get things done thru other people" naturally if that does not work do it yourself as you so often do. :)

Once again Happy Birthday!

Thanks Dieter.  I'm not sure how you know it's my birthday on the 14th but it was a nice surprise. 59 and holding.

Holding what?

Knowing Dan, I would say holding...on to life and health. Three cheers for that!

PS: didn't we hold your birthday party during the summer of 2006 at Meeting of the Clans?

Good memory Mike, but that was my father's 80th that weekend.  He's 87 now and still going strong. My mother is no longer with us - she passed away in April 2011.

There will be another Meeting of the Clans next year. Our farm will turn 100 years old Dec 1, 2014; the old school house will turn 125 years  old in Sept; it will have been closed 50 years next year in June and I'll turn 60 a year from now. Four reasons to have a party - you pick your favourite and we'll make an excuse to have a good time.

Peter, perhaps we should make it September and if you can make it to Canada I will personally drive you to the party in my Blue Tornado, so you feel right at home :) Of course you can help with the driving so it would feel like you brought your Pagode along :)

What about it Dan, shall it be September when a great deal of Pagada's can join in the fun ?

 :)

Well Dan--that was one of the best car events I've ever seen. Choose a date and we'll get it on the MBCA calendar.

At the time I had that party in 2006 my health was taking a nose dive.  I didn't plan for that, it just happened. I'm glad I did have the party because when I saw the geat turn out it boosted my optimizim for the future at a time when I wasn't even sure there would be one.

I had planned to have more Meetings of the Clans but I guess life got in the way. Over the past several years I've meet a lot of you ,and also many new customers, and I can say that many of you kept me going when it would have been easy to close the shop and move on to do some other line of work.  At P50 last fall I found myself picking up a wrench and working on different cars without really giving it much thought and I kind of said to myself , '' What else would I really want to do? ''

Next Sept. - weekend after Labor Day?

Thanks guys. :)

I used to teach the history of Mercedes-Benz, MB culture, and MB engineering.
And I've always mentioned; Mercedes is Mercedes because of its dedicated technicians (people)...
'Respect' is one of the most important core values of Mercedes-Benz.

If i were to close my eyes and picture Dan; he would be the master technician working on W198 II in Nürburgring.  8)  And teaching some lessons... :)
I respect this gentleman!
I'd like to thank Dan for his great contribution, help, support and patience.  :)

"Happy Birthday" Dr. Benz!

-John  :)
