Title: Another seat belt mounting question
Post by: tel76 on November 24, 2013, 10:38:52
On the RHD 1970 280sl that I am restoring there is an anomaly between the right side mounting points to the left side.
On the right hand side (drivers side) there is the standard seat belt three point mountings ie one on the transmission tunnel, one on the cross member behind the seat and one at the top of the B post.
On the left hand side (passenger side) there is no mounting point on the B post top, it is worth noting that whilst on the right hand side B post top there is a factory strengthening plate welded inside the B post whilst on the left hand side there is nothing.
Is it possible that the later cars only had two point seat belt fittings on the left hand side (passenger side) ?
Has anyone else with a RHD car got the same set up ?

Hi Eric, mine has the mounting on both B pillars, additionally I have retractors mounted
under the parcel shelves. So the B pillar has 'rings' mounted on them where the belt slides
through.

Same as Larry,  the B pillars are where the "rings are mounted, with the retractors down at the frame under the parcel shelves.
