I believe the soft top frames are interchangeable, that's what I'm being told anyway although I believe there are three different versions
I'm asking before I part with lots of dollars for a refurbed one from sls, they appear the best on offer
I also need a full grill, steering wheel and euro lights so I'm looking if I may be better buying a doner car and selling as bits once I've had the things I need
Any advice welcome to a novice trying to learn about this stuff
Thank

Hi Wayne
Not sure as to the differences between soft top frames but buying a donor car and then removing required parts would seem like a very long journey. I'm sure there will be some parts which will fly off the shelf but there will certainly be other bits which could hang around for a very long time.
As basket case cars seem to be making strong money now, i'm not sure how much a donor car would cost- maybe an ex US car could be an option?
You could place a Wanted Ad on forum - you never know someone may have the bits you need.
Good luck.

They are interchangeable, with slight variations in mechanism.
Therefore for originality then a 280 one is required, otherwise
a 230/250 will do the job.

Thanks for your replies
Agreed a downer car is a long shot but if I get one with the bits I need then there is still lots of car go sell,I may have found one for about 10k and with a roof at about 5k,grill 1500,euro lights 1500 then I'm sure I can sell the car on for about 5 to 8k
The other option is to import 280 sl fromUSA and keep as a spare car for the long term
Thanks for your replies anyway as they are very helpful and have made me think of other options
