Hello to everyone,
I know this is a old discussion and many of you have already commented so sorry to be boring......
I need to change tyres and do a wheel alignment (any suggestion here?) after that the car has been stored for about 5 years without moving......at the moment I have a Michelin XVS 185/90/14. I wanted now to use the original size being 185/80/14 to maintain the original look of the car.
I don't want to spend a fortune but at the moment I have only found in the UK
1) Vresdestein sprint classic
2) Camac NC80
The Camac are cheaper but not sure of the design and quality.
Any other cheap suggestions?
I have seen photos in the past of lovely runway enduro 806 tyres but there are now impossible to find.
thanks
Filippo

Hi Filippo.
if you search 'verdestein' in this forum you'll find loads of post offering opinions. Including one from me last year. I fitted Vredesteins in place of old michelins and they have been great and much much cheaper.
I have never heard of camacs but i googled them and one thing to check is whether they have the raised kurbing ridge on one side which protects the painted wheel covers from getting scratched. Couldn't see the ridge in the picture I found

Go with Verdesteins. I posted the originial thread on this site about 4 years ago. I did a research on all tires that were on the market, that was original sizes. I found out that the Sprint tires is THE CLOSEST to originial specs of tires furnished by DB at new on these SLs, (ie. size, width of tread, size of side wall, load, curb bump, classic tread design, etc). Please go back and read my thread on this subject. Many North Americal members do not like the fact these tires (tyres) there is no white wall, only blackwall is available.

If the 185/80/14 size is hard to find, try 195/75/14. Its the closest readily available size.

I found some FALKEN 185/80/14s which seem to work well. Four for £270 fitted. The speedo is spot on so must be the right size.
