Title: Rubber Shock Tower Piece
Post by: n/a on July 31, 2004, 22:32:33
Has anyone heard of a rubber shock tower piece causing a "clunking" sound when shifting from 1'st to 2'nd gear in on a manual transmission?    If that makes sense....what are the implications?  how expensive to repair?

Dan .... The "rubber shock tower" is probably refering to the support for the differential in the trunk.  This could cause the clunking sound and they are easy to replace and not very expensive.  You can test it by slowly jacking up the differential while watching the mount.  If the rubber is separated from the steel, it should be replaced.
