Title: Tires - Michelin X 14
Post by: magicman on September 22, 2013, 01:08:54
Well I replaced my tires today which I believe were from 1973 or 1983! I'm leaning towards 1973 becasue my father doesn't remember buying tires for the car. I think the Michelin x 14's  had about 30,000 miles on them judging by the tread remaining. Does  anyone else have these tires on thie car?  I still have the Michelin x 14 spare which at least looks good & apparentlly was never used or used very little. As I was having the new tires installed, I was very surprised when the tire technician walked into the waiting room & asked if wanted to keep the inner tubes!  That's right, 3 of the tiires had tubes.  Not sure if anyone uses tubes anymore. When I got home I looked at the tubes & they said made in Germany. Anyway, the tires I bought were Hankook 195/75/14's & the price was right.

I transposed the #'s, the original tires were 185 14 X.

I bought these same tires in a w/w and traveled to Williamsburg and back.
They felt good and as you said the price was right

I bought them for the white wall also. I wasn't real keen on the tire graphics but I guess it's not noticeable until you stand right next to the car.  For my needs, the tires seem to perform well so far.

Good thing you replaced those very old tires. Literally an accident waiting to happen.

Here's what I'm using on my car.

I did go a plus one in a 15x7MB wheel with a 205/65/15 tire available in HR or VR speed rating.  My car has never been so stable at high speed.
