Title: Fuel Tank Replacement for a 230SL
Post by: RCS on September 03, 2013, 23:25:09
As a fairly new Full Member to the group, I would appreciate your advice.  I have a 1965 230SL Euro Model that needs a new fuel tank.  Is there a supplier out there that you recommend I contact for a good product at a fair price?

I live in the Chicago suburbs.

Thanks

Richard Shusha

I`m up in Québec, Canada but I know Michigan and Illinois, since I lived in the Detroit area for 34 years.  Across the line, over in Sparta, Michigan, not too far from you, is K&K Mfg.  The have the tank you need - not cheap, but they have it.  I`ve been happy with their service and they are on our Vendor list.  At least you won`t have to pay shipping if you`ve got the space in your daily car.

Good luck.

Richard, I replaced my fuel tank as well on my 230SL.  I ordered it directly from the MB Classic Center in CA.  I don't know the price now but 3 years ago it was less than $1K and it was $40 to have it shipped to upper state NY.

The PN is 113-470-06-01, and your local dealer can get it for you with no shipping charge.  The list price is $1220 but you should be able to get 10% off that.
