I have come upon a chrome locking gas cap that is locked solid, meaning it is usable. There is no key code on the back. I understand that a good locksmith can re-key this cap without taking it apart? I've read many previous posts on re-keying to an existing key. In my case, I just want a key to unlock it so that it spins making it secure on the car.
Advise appreciated.

Hello Kevin, Yes, that was the 1st thing I did. The Tech Manual details keying a gas cap to the ignition key or another key. In my case, I just want ANY key that will open and lock this cap.
Reading previous posts, it appears that some members have had the same situation as I have. One post went on to say the locksmith was able to provide a key without taking the cap apart. Any input on this?
Maybe he had some type of Master Key for this?
Thanks very much

Sorry. Obviously I didn't read your post closely enough. Hopefully someone with experience will chime in.
Good Luck!
