I have noticed the prices of pagodas and most classic cars are going up fast. Guess because interest rates for savings is nill.
A lot of USA cars as well seem to be selling for a lot more now. Could be the 50 th year? Wondered if this is the same in USA?
Cars here, nice but not perfect, are £45 to £60 k. A couple on pistonhaeds website around £100 k. I paid £17 two years ago. A one owner 35 k miles 280 stored for 30 years estimate 30 k just sold at auction for £82 k. Needs restoring.
What are prices like in USA ? And that side of the pond?

Apart from the interest rates being so low, so money in the bank is actually losing value against money in classic cars increasing in value, some canny wealthy people are using classic cars as a mechanism to pass money on to their kids without incurring inheritance tax.

Anglia Car Auctions, set some high prices for Pagodas in their June sale with a "stored since '83 1970 280SL" going for £81,900 against an estimate of £25,000 to £35,000. Perhaps more surprising was a 1967 250SL California Coupe going for £34,125 - surprising because most UK dealers claim that the coupe is almost impossible to sell in the UK.

They have another auction on 24 August with two barn find Pagodas - unfortunately little info on their site and a 1970 280SL (86,000 miles and family owned for 28 years) estimated at £30000 to £40000. It will be interesting to see what prices they get for these cars.

I would be wary of the description "barn find". It used to mean original, not messed around. Not any more alas. Prices do seem to be perking up though - although I can't work out the UK markets appetite for US LHDs. Wouldn't fancy being stuck behind a caravan for 1/2 hour in one of those.

Nor me - other than perhaps the (perceived?) lack of rust with ex-Californian cars?

I've always thought that a barn find meant that the car was found unused in a barn or shed - maybe anywhere but tending towards not in the city.
I guess '' barn find '' has about the same meaning as '' classic '' these days. Both actually meant something at one time but are almost meaningless today.
I did however, find my 600 in a barn so it has a valid claim as a barn find.

Anglia Car Auctions realised £44,100 for this 1970 280SL against a top estimate of £40,000.
The "barn findPagodas" were held over to their November sale. Totally agree with Benz Dr.'s comments on the increasing misuse of this description but in this case, from the very poor catalogue picture below, they do, at least, appear to be in a barn!
