Hi guys,
Recently i imported a 230 with a 280 motor from the States, and having some fuel supply issues,
Apparently the car had been in storage for quite a few years.
The problem I have is that there is no fuel coming out of the injector pump!
Plenty of pressure going in and plenty of pressure on the return side too.
Tried bleeding the system to no avail!
What I have noticed on the car is...
A new fuel pump
New fuel tank
New distributor
And the fuel injector pump looks new
I replaced the fuel,
Replaced the fuel filter in the bottom of the tank,
New Filter in the fuel pump inlet
New fuel filter
It does fire and run if I spray fuel in the air intake!
Could it possibly be blocked in the injector pump itself?
Or could the injector pump drive off the timing chain be compromised?
Thanks in advance,
Soul.

look in to CSV (cold starter valve) if this does not wok you'll have a difficult start.

Hello,
Most likely your injector lines are empty and your starting aids are not working.
Remove the spark plugs. Loosen the injector lines at the injectors. Crank the engine until fuel emerges from each line at the injector. As fuel emerges from each line tighten each injector line. When all six are finished, install the spark plugs and start the engine. Use full pedal while cranking for this first start.
Keep in touch and we will help you with the starting aids also.

Many thanks Guys,
Will try all the above tonight !

Hi guys,
Tried all the above.
I have 16 psi at the fuel pump.
16 psi before the injector pump and 16 psi on the return side.
I have zero out of the injector pump.
Have tried vacuuming the outlet on the injector pump whilst under cranking and fuel pressure , but no good!
Also tried clamping off return line to aid fuel pressure!
The manual says fuel pressure at 19 psi? Would 3 psi make a difference?
Also the CSV , although the solenoid is working it does not spray out of the injector!
Is it possible the injector pump has broken a spindle and not turning ?
Or perhaps injector pump vales blocked ?
Thanks in advance guys!

If you have the lines off of the injection pump do yo see any fuel coming out of FIP while cranking?
your pressure is fine 16 PSI is enough to push the fuel through.

Hi Shaun,
No fuel coming thru, what's so ever!

Did you check to see if the rack on the injection pump is free and moves back and forth.

Guys,
I have found the problem, pistons on the pump are not going up and down.
Found a thread on it.
What a great site.
Thanks guys!

Hi Guys,
Its almost there!
I managed to clean most of the Injector pump outlets and now starts although not on all 6 cylinders.
I removed the injector pump one valves ? and soaked them in auto trans fluid with alcohol, and freed most of them.
Any ideas were i can buy some new injector valves ? that go above the pistons in the pump?below the outlet fittings.
Thanks for all the advice so far.

Hello, I just went through this same process a short time ago. Joe will walk you through the steps. The pistons in the pump were seized and need to be freed up. I took my IP off and removed the side cover and used carb cleaner and alcohol to free the pistons up. By using a 5mm screw in the end if the rack you can use it to get the rack moving and the pistons going up and down in their bores. Watch for the cylinders as they will be pushed up with the piston of they are seized. Take the check valves out and make sure the little ball bearing in the valve is free. You can follow my threads back in June as I worked on mine. Carey. I soaked the injecctors also in carb cleaner and alcohol. Everything now works fine. Just doing the tuning now.
