I would be willing to pay around $45K for this, max. But I guess there's many who would pay about three times that much. Go figure.

It is very nice. Very basic and honest car....but too much $

Is she included in the deal? :D

Yes, but only imaginary! ::)

Same seller who had the 230SL "rebadged" as a 280SL a while back.

Hi Cees,
if this were a regular 911 I could see your point. But consider that soft window Targas were only made for about 2 years and many of them (half?) were later converted to a Targa with a solid glass rear window and you'll see that the supply is really very small. What would you pay for an original 5-speed 230SL (not 280SL!) ? My guess is that they are probably as rare.
Nevertheless the asking price for this car is astounding.

It's a short wheelbase S - they only made ~35 of those in Right Hand Drive and so they are rare in their own right
Yes, they'll have made more LHD but as noted above, the Targa - let alone soft window - was made in much smaller numbers than the coupes. And if this is as original as suggested....
By way of comparison...http://www.outwoodcars.com/vehicle.asp?ID=256
and this went for $50k a few months back... http://classicinvest.com/1967-porsche-911s#!prettyPhoto

Wow, I had no idea about these prices.

I have a friend living nearby who has a 1969 912 Targa. Hard window on this one.
I have one of those 5 speed 230SL's. I think the 5 speed option was introduced in 1966 so there wouldn't be many of them around. Anyone know how many cars were made in each model?

I have a friend with one of these. The car that is!
