Title: Servicing Heater Core - 230 SL
Post by: rjmarco on June 14, 2013, 19:12:12
I have my dash board apart and have decided to restore the heater and ventilation controls which have severely deteriorated and non-functional.  I plan to drop out the heater core and anticipate that it will need to be repaired.  I understand that new heater cores are unavailable.  Has anyone successfully had their heater core serviced and restored to good condition?

Hi Rich,

If it needs repair - leaking/pressure testing, flushing out, brackets broken off etc, its basically a mini radiator, so any half decent radiator repair shop can fix it.

Hi, George.  Thanks for the help and encouragement.  I'm going to go the route of a radiator repair shop as you suggested.  Hopefully, will turn out fine.

Regards,

Rich,

I had mine done about 6 months ago and as George said, a radiator repair shop can easily rebuild them if they know what they are doing..

Hmmmm, I`m not sure if this is odd or not- a coolant problem answered by two Aussies, both of whom own  air cooled Kombis.
Nah, must be coincidence

Hey George,

Air Cooled, way to go ;)   :o :o :o

Am sitting in a park at the top of Australia in Darwin, with the Kombi, catching up on mail and catching a few fish. Glad I don't have the Pagoda here, may be a bit hot for top down driving. ;D
