Title: Throttle Flap Cap?

I recently bought a 280 SL as a summer project car. I searched the archives but don't know if this question was ever answered... Is there supposed to be a cap on the "throttle flap" (if this is the correct term)  or is it model-specific? My car is the red one (no cap) and my buddy's is the gray 250 (with cap)....

Assuming both cars have manual trans, then you should have the cap too.

My car is a late 280sl my car does not have a cap but a circlip like you
I don't think late cars have a cap since it would not fit over the circlip
