Title: shuddering at speed
Post by: paulr on May 19, 2013, 20:05:09
Hi everyone..it's been a while.

All is good with my 280SL, except one thing:-

The car is fairly smooth until 70mph +. I feel a slight sort of rotary wobble like flat spots on my tyres. There is no noise and the tyres are good. Any ideas ?

Typically, not pagoda specific, a wobble or shudder at specific higher speeds means the tires need to be balanced again.  This assumes all bushings are checked and are okay.

I had exact same problem with mine, it turned out one of the front steel wheel was wobbly and was getting the shakes over 60 mph. after replacing it with a spare that I had all is well now.

Paul, go to www.gsp9700.com and locate a shop with a Hunter Road Force balancer, GSP9700. Makes a big dfference over conventional balance.
