Title: Speedometer adustment 4.08 to 3.27
Post by: jorge espinoza on May 06, 2013, 03:10:31
I'm about to send my speedo to Palo Alto . I have done the rear diff swap to 3.27 but the car ( 68 280sl 4spd Euro) is in the shop . I can't do the check they suggest by counting the revolutions of the tires or any other test . If you have done this revolution test or any have other info that can help please send me the results so my speedometer can be ready for install by the restoration shop .Hope you can help thanks .

W=12.4 worked for me, checked with GPS. My tires are 205/70. You may want a W=12.5 or 12.6 if using 195/75 tires.

How did the speedo conversion turn out? How much did they charge?

Thanks,

I did get the speedometer back and it looks brand new . Upon installation I found the speedometer ,which is in kilometers , now show 60 mile per hour at 60 kilometer mark . I like this unexpected  change to the speedometer  . I had asked them to change the gearing to the odometer and restore the face and anything else which they found to be faulty . It cost aprox $270 for all the work but that's off the top of my head , could have been more . So far very happy with the results and it's very close to what the GPS speed confirms .
