Happy Easter ...
A service shop is recommending this to replace the old, any thoughts and advice would be most helpful.

Thank you..
" I see this was discussed early 2008, any updates since? "

Hi Kemel,
I have one of these. It is a really worthwhile addition for a very smooth running engine and no points to adjust.
Don't forget to install a spring. Search this site for more info.

Thank you Larry,
Much appreciated .

Kemal,
I second Larry's recommendation. I had one installed last summer. The car runs fantastic.

v.Dijk in Lisserbroek did install it in my car about a month ago and I must admitted that the car is running better and cold start is alot faster as in the past.

Kemal, this is what I did. Go for it! If installed properly you won't regret it.

Thank you all, I'll take care of it on Tuesday.
I feel sick, too much chocolate today. :-\

Also check out Pagoda Notes, Volume 3 No 4. It has an in depth discussion of the 123 installation and use.

Which is the model 123 distributor that replaces the 051?
-
Thinking of buying this to replace my aging original distributor. Any modification needed or just a simple plug and play?
-
I found an old thread dicussing the 123 distributor, which generally answered all my questions.

Do let me know if you have any further information to share, either here or in the thread above. thanks

In Kemal's link (above) it is the "Mercedes-6-R-V" which is one of the ones made by a company called "123ignition" from the Netherlands...
Not sure if you thought it was a distributor from a model of the W123 Mercedes cars, which is not the case.
If you are in the US, here is a link: http://www.123ignitionusa.com/mercedes.html
I have one in my W108 (gets rid of those pesky and useless ballast resistors) and another in my Fiat 500.

I just replaced the BOSCH Distributor 0231.185009 of my 1968 280SL by the 123Ignition 123\MERC-6 with "curve selector" set to "8". The engine is running smoothly and I can recommend the replacement.
