Title: Replating Heat Lever Escutcheon
Post by: Harry on March 27, 2013, 16:23:31
I need to get the escutcheon replated but I suspect that I will have to remove the plastic color markers (red, blue and black?) that are affixed to the metal.  Any experience with doing that?

Yes, you can take those plastic pieces out, with a blow dryer apply a little heat to the back of the piece then pry them out with a very small flat head screwdriver. should come out easy.

Hello Harry,

The escutcheon plate is in three peices.  Each piece has one m5 stud on the back which is fastened through ther dash  by  10mm nuts.  Access these throug the radio opening and the glove box opening. I use the box end of  a very short 10mm wrench. Move the heater controls all the way inward to access the outside 10mm fasteners and all the way inward to access the inside 10mm nut.

During re-assembly do not overtighten the nuts or the soft metal studs will break off!
