Title: Book report and Articles of interest
Post by: Bob G ✝︎ on March 14, 2013, 17:46:08
A new book arrive yesterday (Factory Original Mercedes-SL & SLC 1963 to 2003). It has a lot of good pictures. I dove into the Pagoda Section. Pages 16 to 53 cover the 230SL, 250SL and final 280SL.

A very nice hardbound book with many pictures. I haven't had a chance to read the Pagoda section yet. I spotted some Mis-placements of
some Engineering labels , no big deal.  The book is by Simon Clay &  Photography by James Taylor. Worth a look on Amazon.

I also want to remind  those of you who are pure Enthusiasts  about a Publication I have been receiving for some time. It is called Auto/Restorer, not sold on the rack.
They are doing a Restoration project on a 230SL that is in need of some real care, floors and more. In this issue they welded a cross beam to keep the body from collapsing.

I cannot do this kind of work but am always interested in how others do it. They are asking for suggestions so the real hands-on people here might want to chime in by calling 1--888 3330436 or go to their website at autorestorermagazine.com.

I finally got my copy in the mail today from Amazon. I did a quick read through, and there are indeed some errors. The one that I saw very quickly was about paint options for the 280 SL. The book lists DB 904 as a top only option. I have an original 280 SL sitting in my garage (with the paint plate in the engine bay) indicating 904. So, as with all things, including this and the Meredith book, a grain or two of salt is indicated.
