Title: My 230sl Pagoda!
Post by: Pesherton on March 13, 2013, 16:46:07
Good afternoon fellow members/staroholics :)

Today i took delivery of a 230sl, my first pagoda. I'm new to this forum, but i've been hunting the right W113 for quite a while (in which i must say the technical manual was to much assistance) :)
The car in question is a 1965 yearmodel was sold new here in Sweden, and with a pretty interesting history - the first owner being Ursula Wirth, co-driver to Ewy Rosqvist-von Korff during the Gran Premio and later also to Pat Moss. It was extensively restored between 1976-1981 and has been rather well kept since, even if there are a few things i would like to dig into over some time to get it the way i want it. For instance the seat covers aren't made to the original pattern..

As you can see on the pictures, spring hasn't exactly arrived here in mid Sweden yet. But, the roads were dry today so i had the opportunity to drive her for some kilometers. What a lovely car it is!

Cheers  8)

Sweet!   I like the two tone - black roof on red exterior and the light color and white steerng wheel interior - good choices!  Nice square weave carpets too!

That is one sweet Pagoda indeed with a history to match, this is the best two tone red/black combination i've seen other than in original ad images. I can never get tired of looking at these cars, every one of them seems to have a beauty of their own.

Happy motoring.

Lovely car... I hope you'll join our 50th year celebration in Europe (http://www.sl113.org/forums/index.php?topic=17225.msg123301#msg123301) so that I can see it in real life...

Grattis! Spring is also eagerly awaited down here, but the snow just keeps pouring down  :-\
But all good things come to those who wait...

btw - there is a Scandinavian Pagoda gathering this August, think it is in Norway

That's lovely! I love that shot from the rear quarter. Welcome aboard

What's secured below the glove box?

Many thanks for all the kind replies!

- Ulf, when is the scandinavian meeting due?
- Peter, it has crossed my mind :) A bit far, but combined with a nice vacation it would be a real grand tour  8)

James - Had to investigate that myself. It's a connector for external radio.. the guy who restored the car, Mr Rapp, made a console with radio, amplifier and two extra speakers that can be placed in front of the gear shifter. It's nicely done in terms of construction, but i prefer the original look. Would be nice to find an original Becker Grand Prix :)

Beautiful car ... always looks good in red!

Best source in Europe for reconditioned Beckers is Königs in Germany.  They are fixing my Blaupunkt Frankfurt right now:
