Title: welding and ignition on 280SL
Post by: Ferrolanoman on March 01, 2013, 15:24:57
I'm having a new exhaust system installed today on my '70 280 SL and some mig welding is involved. Should the battery be disconnected since I have a Crane electronic ignition retrofit so as not to riskdamage to it?
thanks for your considered opinions.

I disconnect the battery any time that I'm welding on  a car. It may not make a difference but I'd rather not find out.

Perhaps more importantly--disconnect the Crane box.  I think it has a plug for doing so?
