After 9 months gestation with a new heart transplant the car is back on the road and I am about to take it for a 1000km drive to run the engine in over two days. More pix will follow.

Love the whitewalls with the 2 piece caps.
Enjoy!!

Outstanding!

Garry everything on your photos is wonderful.
The patient seems to be in great condition after such a big surgery rehabilitation should be easy now.
I find the background very nice too. Wonderful Australia...

Congrats Garry, a very sharp looking car in a beautiful setting. (shouldn't you move that lawn tractor out of the way to make room for the new member?) :)
-

400 miles later as the sun sets on the first day of engine run, no dramas with the car, some sticking in accelerator otherwise uneventful. Stopped by the beach at a town called Portland about 250 miles west of Melbourne for the night

Couple more on the road to nowhere

Great looking car Garry :) :) :)

Fantastic..
Congratulations

Beautiful pictures again Garry, I'm a little jealous, here it is cloudy,-1C and a very cold wind.
Luckily your car runs well. Have a nice time.

I enjoyed every picture
Thanks for taking the time.

Your car looks brilliant. I hope you're enjoying the drive. Given the temp in Melbourne today (and over the next few days) things would be pretty warm in an SL.
Does the completion of your car mean there might be some room for my car in the workshop now? I might give our favorite SL man a call tomorrow morning.
Cheers and enjoy the drive!

CONGRATULATIONS Garry
Looking sharp - great colour combo ;). Just in time for next months gathering in Canberra.
Enjoy the drive.

I nominate this car for the next Pagoda World cover. Waqas?

Thanks for all the positive comments, great to be driving again after nine months off the road.
Now back home after 1100km (650 miles) drive over two days running in new motor. No problems encountered and averaged 21.2 mpg.
Now for an oil change and cut and final polish and all ready for Canberra next month for the 50th Anniversary.
Put it away in the shed with its German mate.

Achim,
I tried very hard to get two matching lights and only succeeded with the Right hand one you pointed me to. :( The other is a new lens only but it did not match. What I should do is take off the new one and leave it out in an Australian summer and then it will fade off to match :D :D :D :D

Garry,
Congratulations on getting you car back on the road and it looks beautiful!! Also so glad your journey of over 1100kms was uneventful and it always feels good to get them tucked away in garage after a nice long drive. I was down in your neck of the woods about this time a few years ago and as I recall it was a little on the "toasty" side. Good top down weather :) Hope you have many years ahead enjoying your Pagoda.
