Title: A bit of a chill in the air
Post by: 49er on January 12, 2013, 21:22:03
Woke up to 19F (-7c) temps and not a cloud in the sky. By around 10:00am it had warmed up to a comfortable 34F (1c). It Has been a while since we fired up the SL and since the roads in our neighborhood were nice and dry, thought we would give it go. The engine started up just fine on the 2nd crank and my navigator (who was bundled up) and myself headed out for a short drive. After a couple of miles the cabin warmed up nicely (great heater in these cars) even with just the soft top.The speedometer wasn't too happy at first with a few chirps at around 40 mph, but it soon settled down. Only out for an hour or so but great fun as always. The car is now back in the garage all covered up ready for another cold night here in the foothills.

PS I took a que from Alfred with the picture through the windshield. No surfers up here though:-)

Wow. 49er, that first picture is simply fantastic -- and promptly saved to my desktop  :)

I also got out for a cloudless but really chilly drive today before those "other 49ers" started playing.... it was fun.

Soft-topping it as well right now.

 8) 8) Nice pictures John,

And whilst you guys are going through a cold time, we are recording temperatures inland of Brisbane and Sydney up around 48-50 Celsius. or in your F 118 - 122 Fahrenheit.  At home here it was running around 105F most days last week.

Cooled off this week thankfully as some of the trees and grass are dying off and we are watering a lot. As the front page of the news papers said, the trees are chasing the dogs. :D

Too hot to take the car out even if it was finished anyway. 8) 8)

same -7 degree C here, but lot of snow. Not sure if this helps knowing that it is freezing in California  :), but seeing your car in such a great setting is like a a feeling good factor ;)
