A new book has apparently been written about our cars. It is by by James Taylor and Simon Clay and titled "Mercedes SL: The originality guide to Mercedes-Benz SL models 1963-2004 (Factory Original)" I have pre-ordered it on Amazon US and they estimate a delivery date of February 8 2013. Publisher is Herridge & Sons in the UK. The description reads:
"This originality guide covers the Mercedes SL sports cars from the W113 'Pagoda' of 1963 to the R129 which ended production in 2003. Model-by-model, with hundreds of pictures, it gives you all the details of correct factory specifications and equipment, including body panels, external trim and badging, paint colours, interior trim and trim colours, dashboard, instruments and switches, under-bonnet components, engine and transmission, lamps, and all other features right down to the tool kit, from the beginning of production to the end. All this detailed information is vital to the buyer, owner and restorer."
Looks to be a worthwhile addition to the library.

I have this book, unfortunately it is wrapped and under the Christmas tree :'( not long now :) :)

I have also pre-ordered the book, but as it goes, I may see it by next Easter, so maybe an Easter gift in addition to my Xmas gift (Michael Salemi's Pagoda Style :)) isn't a bad idea at all? ;D

Great call - I just ordered it through Indigo Canada - and it qualified for discounts and free shipping. Does it get any better than that?

Just for guys in Europe: I found that Amazon UK prices for the book are much higher that on the US site (around 30 Pounds vs 40 USD, which is +20%). Obviously shipping chops a bit of that difference.
However, for Europe the best deal is at WH Smith: 22 Pounds only:
