so if i was to start with the "must have coffee table pagoda book" what am i telling them to look for ??
if there are a couple i might buy the others myself.

Russel,
always pleased to please ;)
if you run MB Classic Car center website http://www.mercedes-benz-classic.com
you could get a book/album called Pagoda Fascination. It is in English and German. Also a great stuff.
hope that the person getting this present would enjoy it as you certainly would :)

Flyair, Russel--
I couldn't find Faszination W113 at the Classic website, but maybe I searched incorrectly. There were a lot of interesting books there, however.
Last night I did an extensive eBay search and actually bought 4 books on Mercedes, though none specific to the SL or Pagoda.
Two of them were mostly art books published by DBAG in the 1950s, with art by Hans Liska:
Hans Liska: Mercedes-Skizzenbuch 1951 - Volume I
Hans Liska: Fahren und Erleben 1957 - Mercedes book Volume II
Hans Liska was noted for some gorgeous watercolors.
The other two were these:
W. Robert Nitske - THE COMPLETE MERCEDES STORY 1955 1st Edition
THREE-POINTED STAR The Story of Mercedes-Benz ~ Profusely Illus~1956 1st Edition
None of them were very costly, but will provide a nice add to my collection and will probably be full of interesting trivia and history. Bottom line is, do some searches on eBay and you can come up with some gems!

Michael,
you are - as usual - right. I mailed them and responded very quickly advising that theory are out of stock for the time being. :-\
The only source they suggested was amazon or similar e-stores.
Meantime, they still have the recent Pagoda Style that is also amazing. Besides, the author, if I remember - is one of our fellow Members :)
