Title: Stuff you don't see very often
Post by: ctaylor738 on November 30, 2012, 17:30:33
From a late 250SL:

- hydraulic cylinder fed by power steering box, increases idle speed for turning during low-speed maneuvering.
- throttle-closed switch on firewall - note extra bracket on throttle control rod

For my 280 project

- NOS Hirschmann antenna

Sorry, the antenna isn't for sale - now mounted on my 280 project.  The box is actually orange.

I didn't know the firewall switches were so common.  Maybe I should change the Subject line to "Stuff I don't see very often."

Cheers,

I finally found the parts diagram for the idle adjustment via power steering pressure (attached).  It is in the EPC in 113042 Power Steering.

Chuck,

What's the difference between that Hirschmann antenna and one like this...?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Hirschmann-AM-FM-Radio-Antenna-Aerial-Mercedes-108-113-250SL-280SL-SE-SEL-4-5-/231190085834?vxp=mtr

Is it simply the difference between "New" and "New Old Stock"?

Kevin

PS: Out of curiosity, does the one you have include the keys plus this period booklet?

Kevin,
the antenna described in the manual pages has a different tip. This tip can accommodate a "slip-over ball", and I the older one has the Hirschmann "h" symbol on the chromed half-dome, the newer ones on eBay don't.
Here is another NOS on eBay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/251489484293
and it has already a newer tip. It may be the same as Chuck's?
Chuck, does your antenna have the symbol and the slip-over ball?

Yes on the insignia and the slip-over ball.

Pictures attached of everything that came with the antenna.

Cheers,
