I would like to find the body number as stamped on to my hard top, to verify that it is indeed the original top; this photo is supposed to show where I should look ("on the base of the hard top"), but I just can't work out what edge the photo is showing.

Mine doesn't seem to have a hinged bolt anywhere. Any ideas?

On the base of the hardtop, on the underside about 3 inches from the
Middle. This same photo confused me too a few Months back when
I was searching for the same number.
I still don't know what that chrome screw fitting is for..is it a modification?
That's the part that confused me too but the oval
Hole behind it should have a rubber bump stop grommet fitting in it to protect
The paintwork on the rear deck as the hardtop is lowered in place..
The grommet is right in the middle on the underside of the base.

This is a rear securing bolt for the HardTop, fitted only to California models of the W113 Pagoda; i.e. those featuring a rear bench seat and w/o soft top compartment.

Dave & Hans,
Thanks for the replies - your answers have explained things well. I will have a look for the build number on my roof when I'm next in the garage. :)
EDITED TO ADD - found the number exactly as described. The great news is that the roof has a "matching number" with the Data Card etc. Superb!
