Title: Grease fitting size(s)
Post by: rb6667 on November 16, 2012, 01:46:06
I expect to find some grease fittings on the suspension parts and drive shaft that will not take any grease.  What size fittings are needed on our pagodas?  I'm at a show this weekend where several vendors have kits with apprx. 100 metric grease fittings in them.  These kits have an assortment of sizes in them.

I figure it will be cheap insurance to have these on hand.

Thanks in advance.

I had these out from a spare front end, I'm going to use a ultra sound cleaner to freshen them up but if you can get them even better.(http://)

The photo really helps, as it tells me that some of the fittings are at a 45 degree angle.  I looked at 2 different kits.  One has just straight fittings, the other has both the straight and the 45 degree.

I'll roll the dice and hope that the correct size is included.  Kit is only $12.00 so no big deal if none of them work.

Many thanks for taking the time to post the photo.

RB,

Does this help?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The W113 Pagoda uses a total of 18 or 19 (for 230-early) grease fittings.
These are:

9 x N071412 008100 Kegelschmiernippel (grease nipple) = DIN 71412-A M8 straight
7 x N071412 008200 Kegelschmiernippel = DIN 71412-B M8 angulate 45°

2 x N071412 006100 Kegelschmiernippel = DIN 71412-A M6 straight
(thereof 1+1 for 230-early and only 1 + 0 for 230-late to 280SL)
1 x N071412 006200 Kegelschmiernippel = DIN 71412-B M6 angulate 45°

Abbreviations: DIN = Deutsche Industrie Norm (= German Industry Norm/Standard); M = metric thread in millimeters

Currently, only N071412 006200 is still available from the (MB) dealer; these are € 0.90 € + VAT = € 1.07  in Deutschland.
Perhaps a bit cheaper in your local Home Depot...

Achim, Thanks very much for the info.  As it turned out, I did not buy that kit at the auto show.  After a second look, those fittings just did not look right.   I'll see if I can get the correct ones now that you have provided the exact information needed.

Many thanks,

All they really need is a good clean up. the best way to get all the old dried grease out is with a small ultra-sound cleaner dose an amazing job makes them like new condition.
